Uganda 2009:
Building a Community Library in Kitengesa
In the past, the United Nations Language Teachers and the 1% Fund in New York have assisted the Library with the installation of a solar powered computer room. In addition, along with funds from other sources, construction of a new library structure began that would include a reading room, another computer room, and a community hall. The library is central to community life in this rural Ugandan town.
The newly allotted funds will be used to pay for the next phase of the project, which includes completing the floor, windows, and doors for the reading room and the computer center, building a ceiling in the computer center and one in the reading room.
