Pig Raising Project

In March 2010, Bayira Rural Women’s Development Association (BARWODA) received funding from the 1% Fund to roll out a pilot project in managing a piggery in Lake-Katwe Sub County of Kasese District in Western Uganda.

With the funds, BARWODA successfully trained 45 members in raising pigs and purchased 45 highbred piglets that were distributed to the trainees. The Association is looking into raising chickens in the future to complement pig raising.
