\nPurchase of solar panels and a 15,000 litre storage tank, as well as labour and transportation to an outside firm, to drill the borehole, in order to provide clean water to a community of 7,000 in Akanator village in the state of Anambra in Nigeria. The borehole will provide a plentiful source of water that will alleviate many persistent problems, including time spent by women and girls to transport water from long distances, transmission of infectious diseases and the periodic closure of the community\u2019s health clinic because of the lack of water. The use of solar panels rather than a diesel generator makes the project sustainable and does not contribute to pollution. Members of the community constructed a water distribution system and provided additional labour to complete the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
